Beltane Oracle Monday

Beltane Oracle Monday

I love the three card spread options in the guidebook with this deck.

I tweaked the “today” spread to read for the week.

This week’s theme
“There is no other way around but through”
If that isn’t fitting for the start of the work week, I don’t know what is. And the crush of trying to wrap up everything before along weekend to boot!

This week’s blessing
“Choose be to be happy right now”
With no major events in the horizon to celebrate in a season full of graduations and weddings this is a timely reminder for me to live my mantra, my truth.
I choose to keep the focus of my practice on everyday magic. The mundane made memorable.

This week’s obstacle
My tidy little Virgo rising mind immediately wanted to plait all those twining ribbons into a neat braid😂
This awareness of my comfort level

Approaching the Ancestors

Wednesday is the birthday of my paternal grandfather
Born in 1909, I have no memory of him as he died of cancer when my father was in high school.

To say he had a problematic life would be an understatement from the bits and pieces I have been able to pull from my father and other family members.

He was a brilliant man with two engineering degrees. But addictions shortened his life and were the source of incredible hardship and trauma for his family.

And because of this, I have been hesitant to reach out and include him in my ancestral practice. But.

He has been on my mind so much lately and little synchronicities have been popping up leading me to explore the possibility of checking in with him (and my well ancestors) to see if it is in everyone’s best interests to explore the path of healing for this line. Because similar problems continue to manifest in subsequent generations.

I put together a three card spread to test the waters, so to speak.

The response pulls are below.

I had already asked my mother to send me a photo of him and that if nothing else I was planning on going to a church and lighting a candle for him.

I’d say the messages from the cards concur with my plans. 🕯

His current state • 8 of Wands
He has messages. And a lot of them. I’m also sensing an urgency in the request(s).

Should I engage • Princess of Cups. This is a clear yes. The young girl even looks like me in my youth. I’m drawn to the image of the turtle in the cup as an offering. Putting a pin in this to explore further.

How to help• 4 of Wands
The imagery is of a church. I don’t think it could be any clearer that I was on track with my original initial plan.

I will be headed to a local cathedral tomorrow and will see what other messages come through.

Love Notes

Spreading a little LOVE on this Freya Friday and reminding you (and ME) to take time to celebrate and love ourselves first.

That whole can’t pour from an empty cup truth❤️

What do you love most about yourself?

How can you you show yourself a little love?

Where can you spread a little love today?

I love the synergy and duality of pulling two sevens here.

In the pentacles I see my ability to love and nurture multiple aspects of myself as well as others

While in the cups, I can help others more clearly see and affirm their own gifts

The Ace of Wands calls my creativity into being. This eternal spark that rests in my heart.

Threshold Tarot

Today I’m sharing my favorite daily spread that I created several years ago and use throughout the season of Imbolc.

Brigid is associated with thresholds. Legend says that she was born on the threshold as the sun rose. And it is customary in Ireland to conduct threshold rites welcoming her into your home on the eve of Imbolc.

I shuffle my cards in the morning as I participate in an active mediation:

I am walking down a corridor, towards a new day.
At the end of the corridor, I can see a door with light shining through a key hole.
As I walk towards this new day, I consider, What will it bring?
Pull the top card for the DOOR

I stand at the door and reach my hand into my pocket and find a key.
As I place the key into the lock and turn the handle, I mediate on what lesson is needed for the day
Pull a card from the middle of the deck for the KEY

Pushing the door open, I pause at the threshold, before stepping over
What lesson will I learn from this day?
Pull the bottom card for the THRESHOLD

Turn them all over and read your story for the day.

Wrapping up 2021

It’s a gift to know what to take with you and what to walk away from when you start off on a new adventure, yes?

Spirit is walking me into alignment for a new calendar year.
And yes the Lovers, the card for 2022 was the shadow card

Sixth of Sunwait

Bright blessings on this Winter Solstice ❄️

Kenaz – In the sixth of sunwait we light
The candle of Kenaz so bright
A light in darkness again shall arise
May the hope of yule in it rise

Consider this interpretation from Rune Secrets

“….there is inborn and hereditary knowledge, and that one of the cognitive faculties governed by Kenaz is intuition.

Kenaz is like a torchlit library, and the energy is clearly filled with unlimited potential to learn and to map. “

Pull your cards, meditate and journal by candles light

Fourth of Sunwait

𝑰𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒇 𝑺𝒖𝒏𝒘𝒂𝒊𝒕 𝒘𝒆 𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑨𝑵𝑺𝑼𝒁 𝒔𝒐 𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕

𝑰𝒏 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝒐𝒇 𝑮𝒐𝒅𝒔 𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒆

𝑴𝒂𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑹𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝒊𝒕 𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒆

Ansuz is a rune connected with listening and speech and communication.

I created this spread to explore where I do not communicate honestly with myself.

Light your fourth candle and meditate on these queries and then ask Source to guide you as you select the cards.

Bright blessings

Third of Sunwait

𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘇- 𝗜𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘂𝗻𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘇 𝘀𝗼 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁
𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘂𝗽𝗼𝗻 𝘂𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀

As you light your third candle mediate on your boundaries.
And think of Thurisaz as the great defender of those boundaries.
The one who stands up to the imagined or teal bully on the playground, takes up their proverbial hammer of choice and clears the negative space.

This rune is the advocate for defining, setting and protecting your personal boundaries. Calling in support and allies for protection and confidence.

I hope these prompts help you manifest the energy of this rune.

Second of Sunwait

💜Second of Sunwait Tarot Spread

The rune URUZ is the source of my mediation this week and two key concepts that really resonate are manifestation and endurance. You can’t have one without the other.

My go to source for rune exploration is the Rune Secrets website.
@runesecrets And I especially loved this insight into the rune URUZ and formed my spread based on it.

“It is the rune of powerful unconscious shaping energies that need to be guided wisely as they manifest.”

Identification, exploration and understanding of the forces and energy that support intent are critical to my process of manifestation.

The 6 of Pentacles shows up again and is a deep call to amplify generosity in response to deep gratitude.
I am blessed to give from a place of abundance, (Empress) bringing hope and harmony. (Star)

I hope this offering serves you well.

First of Sunwait

💜First of Sunwait🤍

Inspired by my deeper dive into ancestral work this past month, I was thrilled to learn about the history of Sunwait, a mindful candle and rune practice for the 6 weeks preceding the Winter Solstice.

A large part of my DNA is steeped in Germanic roots and I’m not going to sugar coat it. Those folks of my recent memory were not always the nicest people. I had balked at exploring those connections until recently. And specifically the appearance of this practice on my spiritual radar felt like a well timed sign.

I’ll be sharing a tarot spread each week based on the six stanzas of the poem that accompany each candle and rune.

The cards I pulled for this first week provided a roadmap to successfully navigate the rest of 2021

I hope it will help me find support and reflection while waiting for the return of longer days.

The full poem with all six stanzas is below.
